Course Site

LMS development was awesome.  I learned a tonne about Moodle and the potential it has for course management.  Structurally I really felt HTML background really helped with integrating and creating websites for the space.  It is easy to tinker too much also.  Content is the ultimately the key.

My LMS is geared to short library periods and introducing some key technology components to students at the 5-8 grades.

    Reflection of my LMS experience

Well the time has come. It has been a very busy summer balancing two ETEC courses, and I must admit, at times I have neglected my fatherly and husbandly duties to learn and play in an exciting new educational space. Time management and organization are areas I continually struggle with (ADHD?). That being said I must admit that the Moodle site creation has been a major highlight of my 565 experience. As a tinkerer and toy “playa” it is nice to have created something that can evolve with me and support my classroom in such a dynamic way. Also, the practice in Dreamweaver and being able to zip and upload my courses has been a great skill builder also.

It took a considerable amount of time to get things laid out and I definitely see the value in storyboarding your LMS and your media projects (something I haven’t done much of in the past). My first module is a little weak in content, but high in experiential motives, and this is balanced in Module 2. I tried to throw a lot at the kids to get them used to new ideas and the possibilities of new technology.

Pedagogically, my Moodle site isn’t exactly where I would like it. This is definitely an area of weakness for me, but I feel my technology skills are compensating in a way that makes the content more engaging. Obviously a teacher’s work is never done and as my projects evolve, my competencies and experimental nature will help me improve my Moodle courses to suit my needs this year.
