My focus is in media and technology studies. Recently, I was a sessional instructor for graduate and undergraduate courses in <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blogs.ubc.ca\/etec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Media &amp; Technology Studies<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dlc-ubc.ca\/dlc3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Digital Learning and Curriculum<\/a><\/span>. Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow with the University of Victoria (UVIC) department of Computer Science focusing on the role of Virtual Reality\/Augmented Reality in an informal learning environment. I am also a postdoctoral fellow with UBC working in Agency for Learning in Immersive and Virtual Environments (<a href=\"https:\/\/alivelab.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ALIVE<\/a>) lab.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I am also a full time faculty member at the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/thecdm.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centre for Digital Media<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">My research focuses on digital media and technology (please see my <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/rachelaralph\/research\/\">Research page <\/a><\/span>for more details).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I am very passionate about the role of women in tech and how I can explore my own role through research and teaching. In particular, I want to focus on the idea of immersive experiences in entertainment and education and the role of thoughtful design.
