Go Daddy is a web hosting company and internet domain registar and its commercials always surprise me. Their spokesperson is the Nascar driver Danica Patrick and WWE star Candice Michelle. There commercials have really nothing to do with what their product is but I believe they use sexuality to gain the attention of its viewers. I’m not saying it doesn’t grab my attention, it just doesn’t make me want to start a web page. I believe they use this type of paid advertisements to gain free advertisements such as publicity from its viewers.
In my books, I would give Go Daddy good publicity because I enjoy their advertisements and would probably advertise my product in a similar way although other people believe that the Go Daddy commercials are ‘cheesy’. They usually play their advertisements during the Super Bowl where the maturity of the viewers are male so it is understandable why Go Daddy uses sex to gain the attention of the viewers because most times when males see a beautiful girl on the television screen, it is hard for them not to look. When Go Daddy uses sexuality in their advertisements, it is common with their other advertisements although when a company randomly does an advertisement containing sexuality it is usually shocking. During the Super Bowl, PETA launched an ad which had a lot of sexuality in it and created tons of buzz. In that way they did get their name out there whether individuals thought it was good or bad is up to their personal opinion. When looking for a Go Daddy commercial to post on my blog this ad was one of the ads with the least amount of sexuality that I could find and felt I could post.
