1995 RNABC Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice

Ranjit Dhari, a community health nurse in Vancouver Health Department, received the RNABC’s Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice. Dhari has been program coordinator for  a research project initiated by the Indo-Canadian Women’s Organization. The goal of the project is to promote health care for new immigrant Indo-Canadian women who are pregnant for the first time in Canada.

She has also served as a facilitator for the highly-successful “pops and tots” program at the West Main Health Unit, which brought together groups of 8 to 14 new fathers and their kids.

Her volunteer work included her participation on the Canadian Cancer Society’s Indo-Canadian advisory committee for over three years. There, she played a key role in the committee’s work to promote and deliver three breast self-examination teaching clinics for Indo-Canadian women.
