How to Convert Slides into a Narrated Presentation Video in 5 Seconds

Intro

I’d like to share a cool feature that I recently came across. It’s a really powerful tool that can reduce what would normally take a full day—or even a few days of work—into just five seconds with a single click.

I’ve tried quite a few AI voiceover features and AI-generated video tools, but the overall experience hasn’t been the best so far due to their awkwardness and the overly “AI-generated” look and feel. However, this one has provided a much better experience so far. I was quite satisfied with the quality of the auto-generated script based on the slides, the multiple high-quality options for AI voiceovers and background music, and the smooth transitions. It also offers great flexibility and can be easily customized. This will definitely be my go-to tool for the next little while.

Take a look

Up front, take a look at this narrated presentation that I created from my Google Slides in just 5 seconds.

To give you some context, I created this presentation for a workshop a few years ago. Since the workshop was designed to be highly intensive and interactive, some of the slides might not be the best examples for a narrated video, which tends to be more one-way. However, it still gives you a nice glimpse of how it works.

Here’s how

  1. Open your presentation in Google Slides and simply click “Convert to Video” under “File“.

2. You’ll automatically be taken to Google Vids. Select the slides you want to import.

Make sure to enable “Include AI voiceover, script, and background music” if you’d like those features.

Once selected, click “Import.”

3. Done. And that’s really it.

You can also edit the script, record with your own voice, change the background, adjust the timeline for each slide, and customize many other details.

4. To share, you can generate a shareable link, export it to Google Drive, or download it as an MP4 or GIF.

Where to apply

As the demand for micro-learning modules and short training videos has increased, this tool will likely become a major time-saver for learning and development folks. It can be particularly effective for creating video-based instructions, step-by-step guides, and employee training programs.

However, despite its relatively natural, non–AI-like quality and feel, the auto-generated look and feel could still came across somewhat cookie-cutter—becoming tedious and predictable as we begin to see more content created in this way. So my question is: how can we demonstrate our own colour, personality, and values while using AI features? In short, how can we speak in our own voices while using AI voiceovers? That may sound a bit ironic, but I think it will become one of the critical aspects of learning design as we’ll use more AI-based tools.

You can find more details about the features and use case scenarios on the Google Vids site.
