The design of the book itself is a pleasure to enjoy. I love the layout design with ample white space, which gave me room to think and reflect—neither too much nor too little. The simple and wild handwriting offered a sense of breathing space and even felt unique in this information-flooded and media-obsessed world. Going back to basics is not a cliché, but a classic—in a nice and refreshing way.

“The great thing about dead or remote masters is that they can’t refuse you as an apprentice. You can learn whatever you want from them. They left their lesson plans in their work.” (p.17)

“School is one thing. Education is another. The two don’t always overlap. Whether you’re in school or not, it’s always your job to get yourself an education.” (p.19)

“You’re ready. Start making stuff.” (p.27)

“You start out as a phony and become real.” – Glenn O’Brien

“In the end, creativity isn’t just the things we choose to put in, it’s the things we choose to leave out. Choose wisely. And have fun.”
