This was the first team that we took in 2008: 1-2 gr.8’s from each school in Richmond.. look at how many of our team showed up!
Much of the involvement in community youth sports stemmed from the absence of playing opportunities during grade 11. Rather than letting this be a setback, the focus shifted to seeing how to contribute to future athletes. This led to engaging with Air Attack Volleyball Club in Richmond, a not-for-profit organization dedicated not only to volleyball but also to fostering personal growth in young players. Over the years, and with the collective efforts of many—including helping to move these initiatives forward—Air Attack has grown into one of the largest boys’ volleyball clubs in BC.
Being part of this journey has been incredibly rewarding. A strong community sports program does so much more than develop athletic skills; it cultivates teamwork, leadership, and resilience. The friendships formed, the lessons learned through both successes and challenges, and the personal growth witnessed in these young athletes are what truly stand out.
For parents and guardians, if your children are between 10-14 years old, consider exploring a community sports program. The experiences they gain, especially in a supportive environment like Richmond’s Air Attack, can have a lasting impact.
