Hi, I am Rebecca Hydamacka! Welcome to my ETEC 540 blog.
I am a graduate student in the Master of Technology (MET) program at University of British Columbia. I am also a teacher with the Quesnel School District (#28) which is located on the traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene “where we live, laugh, and learn the ways of our elders.” I am currently a grade 8/9 Humanities and PE teacher at Quesnel Junior School although I have taught everything from grades 2-11. Before I became a teacher, I was also a teaching assistant and a part-time university student earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and English. What can I say, I love school & texts!
I am not only passionate about education and technology but also the outdoors. I live in a smaller rural city, Quesnel, B.C. with my husband, beagle and a semi-feral cat. Our community is located in a river valley surrounded by mountain trails and lakes, making it easy to find a quiet place to run, hike, ski or paddle and reflect. Some of my best thinking is done in nature.

This is not to say that technology does not play and important part in my life; my iPhone is my constant companion as I have discovered many useful apps to interface with nature as well as to record my adventures to create stories to share with others. Trail running which has taken me to some beautiful race locations where I have clocked some not so stellar 50 km race times because I have just had to stop to take a photo!
