Objective:
This project aims to identify a relationship between socioeconomic factors and violent crime in the city of Chicago through regression analysis. If a concrete relationship can be found, there is potential to target the issue at its source. Through changes in law enforcement and new policies, the city would be able to begin reducing violent crime. I say “begin reducing” as these issues are very complex and will take time to reduce to a more palatable level. It is unrealistic to believe full eradication of these issues is possible. The benefits would be social and economic in nature.
