Important information regarding our Winter Fundraiser and Field Trip

Winter Fundraiser

After looking into and exploring a few different ideas I have decided that Div. 20 will be giving back to their community by supporting an organization called The Red Fox Society.

“Red Fox Healthy Living Society has two complementary missions: to promote healthy active living among Indigenous and inner-city children and youth, and build employment and life skills among Indigenous youth and young adults. We fulfill our missions by providing free and supportive training and recreation opportunities to children, youth and families throughout Metro Vancouver.”

https://redfoxsociety.org/  – Feel free to take a look at the website here.

I spoke with one of the organizers on the phone last week and ask what they were in most need of and they let me know it was winter socks.

We will be working with our buddy class this week to create a  winter picture. I will be sending home a fundraising Order Form for you to have the opportunity to  purchase a  variety of items like holiday cards, puzzles or magnets with your child’s art on it. Approximately  30% of the proceeds will allow me to buy socks for the organization we are supporting.

Field Trip

On Wednesday, December 19th I am planning to take Div. 20 to Grouse Mountain to go Snowshoeing and take part in a variety of outdoor activities. The children seem really excited and so am I! I am needing to confirm drivers with SNOW TIRES ASAP in order for me to confirm we are able to attend the field trip.

More information to come regarding this field trip but for the mean time please let me know if you are able to drive/volunteer!

Also children will need to have snow clothing, this includes winter boots, jacket, pants, toque and 2 pairs of gloves.

If you do not have these items not to worry but please let me know and I will begin to locate items, alternatively, if you happen to have extra you are able to lend for this field trip that also would be greatly appreciated.

As always please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Megan

As you may have seen, I have sent the children home with permission forms regarding an amazing opportunity with the Let’s Play initiative. Please let me know if you have any questions and return the forms ASAP.

We spent a bit of time this week brainstorming  DIY (do it yourself) costumes. The vision for our portion of the assembly is for the children to show the school costumes you can make with items you have around the house.

Some examples the children came up with was a Ninja, a crayon, a ghost. Please brainstorm other costumes ideas over the weekend! – There are lots of great ideas if you google ” DIY Kids Halloween Costumes”

We will be meeting next week with our buddy classes to create these costumes. I will be reaching out early next week for house hold items for the children to bring in – mostly recyclable materials like (paper towel roles, big boxes, ect)
