Peek at the week: Nov 4th-7th

Hello All,

Thank you for another great week.

We had lots of fun with different special activities. The coding workshop was amazing and I know I learned a lot. Some children have seen and used “Scratch” before but if you haven’t please check it out, all you need to do is google “Scratch” and its the first tab, have your children show you what they learned.

We also checked out Mr. Wong’s Haunted House and went to Mrs. Lee’s class to watch presentations. Here we were able to practice both how to be a good audience as well as “TAG” our classes way of giving positive and constructive feedback.  We also went to the Halloween Dance and had School-Wide Fitness on Friday! What a week.

What a fun-filled week, of Wheelchair Basketball and Arts Umbrella.

I was very proud of Division 20’s willingness to step out of their comfort zone this week and try new things.  Wheelchair basketball went really well and I could tell that everyone enjoyed getting to try out the sport wheelchairs.

Hello all,

Division 20 had another great week! I feel very lucky to be their teacher.

This week we had the opportunity to watch the grade 4/5/6 classes present the “Montessori Great Stories”. This was a nice way for me to see previous students as well as for our class to see older students in action.

Terry Fox update: The snack sale raised $350

Work Journals: The start of Work Journals went well. However, please do have a conversation with your child around the importance of taking ownership of their own work. I had lots of conversations with students this week about wasting time.

Orange Shirt Day:  Thank you for encouraging your children to wear an Orange Shirt, we did a few activities around the importance of this day. If you haven’t done so already please do inform yourself about it.

Peek at the week: September 30-October 4th

Hello all,

Thank you all for your contribution to our school’s first fundraiser of the year! I have not heard the total yet but there were long lines for lots of yummy snacks so thank you for bringing those in!

The class has really started to come together as a community and it’s so great to see everyone getting along and supporting each other. A few caring moments that stood out to me this week was when one of our grade 3 leaders made an announcement on the PA and everyone applauded her when she returned to class. Another special moment was seeing everyone work together during our turn out at ‘Grounds Clean Up”, who would have thought picking up garbage would be so fun.

Class Pet: I am going to put this on hold as I feel like we have lots of exciting new things happening and I want to make sure we are set up for success.

Work Journals:  We started our Work Journals and it is going well! (Work Journals is what we use for the children to independently plan their days.)

Monday, September 30th: Orange Shirt Day – Please wear an Orange Shirt

Peek at the week: September 24-27th

Hello all,

We had another great week! I can tell the class is starting to come together as a group and I am enjoying seeing new friendships form. With new friendships forming comes more chatter. We, unfortunately, did spend a lot of time this week working on transitions as our voices tended to rise when we switched activities.

This week we also had the chance to meet our buddy class Div.16. This was very exciting for everyone. Together we created and performed at the assembly. I was very proud of Division 20 as they did an amazing job! and I look forward to providing this class with more opportunities to practice their public speaking and leadership skills.

Terry Fox: Please continue to collect pledges for Terry Fox. I have also sent home a sheet explaining Div 20 and 16’s fundraiser. I have attached it below if it did not make it home. If you are able to contribute something we are able to sell please sign up outside the classroom on Tuesday or write the item in your child’s agenda.

Class Pet: We will start our classroom pet rotations next week. A notice will go home about it and I  will go in alphabetical order.

Work Journals:  Next week we will continue to settle into a more traditional classroom routine. There will be a bit of a learning curve for the grade 1 students as they have not had work journal before. Please ensure you are continuing to check your child’s agenda nightly as communication regarding how this transition is going will be in there.
