Totem Park is a primarily first-year residence containing 1524 student residents in 9 houses, including Ritsumeikan-UBC house. Some cool sustainability features at Totem Park include two brand new REAP certified buildings, real-time energy and water monitoring software via Building Dashboard, fair trade and ethical products and composting facilities in the cafeteria,

Every year, a Sustainability Committee headed by Residence Advisors and a Residence Coordinator plan special events for residents of Totem Park. Last year, that included the first ever Campus Conservation Nationals, also known as Do It in the Dark. Other events included a 100-mile dinner, sustainability week, a coffeehouse, and documentary screenings.

If you are a resident of Totem Park, you can get involved in Totem Park’s Sustainability Committee by signing up during the involvement fair in the commonsblock in September and attending planning meetings. Time commitment is about one hour every week to two weeks.
