Place Vanier is a primarily first-year residence that houses 1433 student residents in 13 houses during the academic year from September to April. Some cool sustainability features at Place Vanier include food made from produce from the UBC Farm in the cafeteria, as well as ethical and fair trade chioces, compost bins in the cafeteria, and LED lightbulbs in desk lamps.

Every year, a Sustainability Committee run by Residence Advisors and a Residence Coordinator plan events for Vanier that in the past have included movie nights, 100-mile dinners, Earth Hour UBC, sustainability week, and much more.

Get involved in the Place Vanier Sustainability Committee this fall by signing up at the involvement fair in September, and help plan great events to raise awareness about environmental issues today! Time commitment ranges from 1 hour every week to two weeks, plus events.
