Advanced Forest Pathology 2014 vintage

It was a good vintage for FRST506, Advanced Forest Pathology at UBC Forest and Conservation Sciences. We explored several topics in forest pathology, literally from genes to landscapes, discussing papers and hearing student presentations on topics as varied as the synergies between wildfires and invasive alien diseases, the efficacy of stumping for controlling Armillaria root disease, the characteristics of invasive forest pathogens, the role of effectors in pathogen infection of plants and genome analysis of tree pathogens. The student presentations and their discussion and critical examination of these topics were extremely stimulating and this instructor felt privileged to have lead such a bright group of students!
