Providing a memo for the proposal of the formal report allowed the instructor and reader to have a broad picture of the proposal in a quick summary. It allows the reader to know what to expect when reviewing the full proposal. The memo was also an excellent way to ensure all areas of the proposal were covered and no necessary details were missing.
