The land it is situated on has always been a place of learning for the Musqueam, who for millennia have passed on their culture, history, and traditions from one generation to the next on this site.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1>UBC Vancouver<\/h1>\n<h2>RMST 201<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"text-lg\"><strong>Introduction to Literatures and Cultures of the Romance World I: Medieval to Early Modern<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mt-0\">UBC Academic Calendar description: \u201cAn introduction to the main themes that shaped the Romance World as its different national identities emerged in the Mediterranean sphere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was a new course, part of redesigning our Romance Studies program and curriculum. The official title and description are, shall we say, interesting. They are not what I would have chosen; but the more I thought about them, the more I thought about the <i>why<\/i> they were interesting; there\u2019s so much potential for future incarnations of this course to explore every part of the description, or indeed to turn any single word into a topic. So while I usually design a course like this around a subtitle and theme of my own devising\u2014adventures, intrigue, mischief, criticism, animal reading\u2014in this case I made an exception.
