About ENGL 301

One of the most important aspects of the professional world is an adequate level of expertise in communication. Science, business, technology, healthcare, and other disciplines depend on precisely communicating ideas and information to an audience in a particular manner. In certain scenarios, such as corporate strategy, medical research, and more, precisely executed communication is crucial; would disastrous results occur if an audience misunderstands what was intended?

Thus, ENGL 301 aims to improve both online and written communication skills. With an emphasis on business and professionalism, the course achieves this in two ways. First, by showing the knowledge, principles, and practice of technical communication. Second, by offering opportunities to practice these concepts through writing and analyzing written and online communications, such as reports, proposals, networking, Web Folios, emails, texts, abstracts, and proposals.

ENGL 301 is divided into four units: technical writing fundamentals, report proposals, outlines and drafts, and peer review and finalizing. Students work both alone and in groups, as well as with guidance from a qualified instructor. The course includes three main discussion forums: the Facebook Page class group, the writing team, and the instructor’s weekly blog. In addition to a series of minor assignments, the major writing assignments are the Formal Report, the application package, and the Web Folio.

As for myself, I frequently tend to communicate my ideas and information in my work online and in other professional settings. My background in business, marketing, and technology inevitably requires a vast aspect of technical writing and professional communication. Therefore, I wholeheartedly understand how critical it is to excel, if not master, technical writing. I also understand what to expect based on the course description, and I look forward to completing the work to the best of my ability.
I look forward to collaborating with you all.
