(Perry,2016)

In my opinion the president of the United States of America is always one of the most powerful persons in the planet. I don’t think there is many people that can argue with this. Mr. Donald Trump is now the president of this powerful country. There is no doubt that he is a man that has a great political skill. He has the ability to influence others to act for his objectives. He has mastered this skill so well, that he won the election even though the media was not in his favor. Power is the capacity that A has to influence the behavior of B, so that B acts in accordance with A´s wishes.[1]

Mr. Trump uses many types of power. The one he used more was the expert power, he said that his skills of a good business man and a good negotiator will make “America Great Again” and the American people believed him. The next type of power he uses is coercive power, many people fear him. They fear that they will be affected negatively if they act against him. Which is true, Trump does not accept nor like enemies this is why many people just comply with him.

He also is a user of reward power; he makes people think that if they support him they will have rewards or they will be important. And now he has legitimate power because he is indeed the president of the US. Therefore, he is the head of the government.

But how much power does Trump really has?

The president makes decisions by making executive orders and Trump has made a lot.

In the blog post of Tobias T. Gibson called “Executive orders give Trump a lot of power, but there are limits” we can observe how the executive orders have power because they carry the force of the law. But they are not permanent laws, they can be overturned by the future presidents or by the Congress.

In conclusion we can say that even though Trump has many of the bases of power and has one of the most powerful positions in the world, he is not as powerful as he thinks he is.
