{"id":2828,"date":"2010-11-19T17:40:18","date_gmt":"2010-11-20T01:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ross\/?p=2828"},"modified":"2010-11-19T17:40:18","modified_gmt":"2010-11-20T01:40:18","slug":"education-for-dangerous-citizenship%e2%80%94powerpoint-slides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ross\/2010\/11\/education-for-dangerous-citizenship%e2%80%94powerpoint-slides\/","title":{"rendered":"Education for Dangerous Citizenship\u2014powerpoint slides"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ross\/files\/2010\/09\/Dangerous-Citizen-poster.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ross\/files\/2010\/09\/Dangerous-Citizen-poster-790x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Dangerous Citizen poster\" width=\"370\" height=\"512\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2663\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had a great time at the University of Texas, San Antonio this week, where I gave a talk  as part of the Educational Leadership &#038; Policy Studies Distinguished Lecture Series.<\/p>\n<p>The talk, titled &#8220;Education for Dangerous Citizenship&#8221;, drew from some of my recent work with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richgibson.com\">Rich Gibson<\/a> (e.g., <a href=\"http:\/\/m1.cust.educ.ubc.ca\/journal\/index.php\/workplace\/article\/view\/47\">&#8220;The Education Agenda is a War Agenda&#8221;<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.counterpunch.org\/gibson02022007.html\">&#8220;No Child Left Behind and the Imperial Project&#8221;<\/a>)  and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/fhe\/education\/Staff\/kvinson.htm\">Kevin D. Vinson<\/a> (\u201cThe Concrete Inversion of Life\u0094\u201d: Guy Debord, the Spectacle, and Critical Social Studies Education&#8221; [<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ross\/files\/2010\/09\/Vinson-Ross-Wilson-chapter-6-REVISED.pdf\">pdf<\/a>]).
