\u201cSPACES OF CAPITAL, SPACES OF RESISTANCE\u201d<\/p>\n
Call for Papers: Following on the successes of the two previous North\u00a0American Historical Materialism Conferences at York University (2008\u00a0and 2010), we are pleased to issue a call for papers for our third \u00a0conference. In light of the continuing instability of global\u00a0capitalism and the mounting resistances from\u00a0Egypt\u00a0to the Occupy\u00a0Movement, our over-riding theme will be \u201cSpaces of Capital, Spaces of\u00a0Resistance.\u201d But we welcome all contributions that contribute to\u00a0critical knowledge on the activist and scholarly Left and the\u00a0development of historical materialism as a living research program. We\u00a0specifically welcome papers dealing with The Spaces of Power; Critical\u00a0Theory and the Politics of Liberation; Capital and its Discontents;\u00a0Modes and Movements of Resistance.<\/p>\n
We welcome individual submissions as well as panel proposals. For\u00a0individual papers, please send an abstract of no more than 250 words.\u00a0Panel organizers should submit a 100-word panel abstract along with\u00a0individual paper abstracts of no more than 250-words for each paper to\u00a0be presented as part of the panel. We will formulate the conference\u00a0itinerary based upon the broad themes generated through the submission\u00a0process.
