Cerri<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> (State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil) contributed a chapter for the book <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Social-Studies-Education-in-Latin-America-Critical-Perspectives-from-the-Global-South\/Pla-Ross\/p\/book\/9781032149509\"><em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Social Studies Education in Latin America: Critical Perspectives from the Global South<\/span><\/em><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> , which I edited with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iisue.unam.mx\/investigacion\/investigadores\/sebastian-pla-perez\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Sebasti\u00e1n Pl\u00e1<\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cerri&#8217;s chapter presents outcomes of an international project researching young peoples&#8217; view of teaching and learning history, historical awareness and culture, political position and culture. The chapter presents comparative data on political position and views regarding history from young people across Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Colombia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Subsequent to the book project, I had the opportunity to speak at the National Meeting of Researchers on the Teaching of History in Brazil and then last summer participated in a <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pSfzXTSdnGg&amp;ab_channel=ABEHAssocia%C3%A7%C3%A3oBrasileiradeEnsinodeHist%C3%B3ria\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">video interview<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> with Dr. Cerri as well as <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8106-4978\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Prof. Dr. Maria Lima<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> (Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul) and <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sigaa.ufpe.br\/sigaa\/public\/docente\/portal.jsf?siape=2363147\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Prof. Dr. Juliana Andrade<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> (Federal Rural University of Pernambuco).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The interview has just been published in <\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Revista Docentes:<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Ross, E. Wayne Ross, together with Sebasti\u00e1n Pl\u00e1, organized a collection on the teaching of Social Studies in Latin America, resulting from the understanding that the Global South is rapidly changing its role in the various spheres of contemporary life, and among them, the debate on the teaching and learning of subjects such as History. In 2022, he opened the proceedings of the National Meeting of Researchers on the Teaching of History held at UFRPE, reflecting on the impacts of neoliberal policies on the teaching of History and other human and social sciences.
