Back again for the 4th year running, this year’s Hip Hop Festival
\nAgainst War & Occupation `Hip Hop vs. War’ is set to exceed
\nexpectations and celebrate the spirit of resistance that hip hop’s
\nbeats, rhythms and rhymes are rooted in!<\/p>\n
>From hip hop’s legacy in the ghettos of New York City, to
\nPalestinian hip hop beats today, this cultural phenomenon has become
\nthe voice of youth, people of color, and oppressed people and
\nnationalities from around the world. Whether it’s a beat, a lyric,
\nspinning a record, popping and locking, or graffiti on a wall, hip
\nhop transforms the spirit of millions of people marching for justice
\ninto a popular culture that spans borders, cultures and languages.<\/p>\n
This popular festival has year after year garnered community
\nsupport, major media coverage, and the participation of youth,
\nwomen, families and oppressed people and nationalities, as well as
\nperformers from Vancouver to around the world. This festival has
\nspanned the lower mainland, with shows and workshops in venues like
\nskate parks, community centers, auditoriums, clubs, youth centers,
\nsports fields, parks, and restaurants.<\/p>\n
