Brooke Anderson is a Vancouver painter and certified Expressive Art Therapy practitioner whose passion for healing through the arts led her into the prison system of British Columbia in 2007 to work with incarcerated men and women. Using an innovative workbook called ‘Keep an Eye on Your Soul’ (KAEOYS), inmates explore ideas about their lives, belief system and role in the world through painting, drawing, collage, poetry and writing. Under the umbrella of Prison Fellowship Canada, Brooke travels to Federal Penitentiaries across the country training others to run this program. She currently facilitates on-going workshops at Fraser Valley Institution, a federal prison for women in Abbotsford, BC.
Brooke’s primary focus is transforming conflict through the creative process in areas of need. Most recently, in collaboration with Dr. Elzette Fritz and the University of Johannesburg, traveled to South Africa to work with teens in crisis and will be returning to Johannesburg in February 2013 to continue this work.
