I have had the pleasure and honour to work with the Waší∙šiw since 2009 on their ancestral language. Wá∙šiw is a language isolate spoken in the Lake Tahoe region of California and Nevada. I would like to acknowledge the elders who I have worked with and learned from, who have graciously shared their language with me: the late Ramona Dick, the late Adele James, Steven James, Melba Rakow and Floyd Wade.
