Though I have always appreciated and often been pleasantly surprised by the cleverness and\u00a0creativity found in\u00a0marketing (such as\u00a0the ads\u00a0found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/creativenerds.co.uk\/inspiration\/100-most-funny-and-creative-advertisement-designs\/\">http:\/\/creativenerds.co.uk\/inspiration\/100-most-funny-and-creative-advertisement-designs\/<\/a>), I still felt a sense of deception. Often, an almost unrealistically positive image is projected of the product. It appeared, marketing was all about giving a one-sided view of things in an attempt to brainwash its audience into becoming one of its advocates.\u00a0Once sucked in,\u00a0the\u00a0value of each consumer would be maximized\u00a0and extracted, all in the interest of already wealthy shareholders.<\/p>\n<p>As I began to look more into marketing though, I realized that marketing is not all bad.\u00a0 For one, many organizations are\u00a0using marketing\u00a0to send us reminders\u00a0of social or environmental responsibility.\u00a0No, not everyone may agree with the message being sent, but at least it allows one to think critically.\u00a0I found these sorts of ads particularly memorable as it really caused me to stop and reflect on\u00a0my role as a global\u00a0citizen. The world is far from perfect.
