Self-assessment Reflection

Having completed ENGL 301, I submitted all assessments on time while addressing the assignments’ requirements. Based on in-class feedback, overall strengths include well-organized documents, detailed content, and a clear and concise writing style. One general area of improvement is writing with you-attitude for a professional tone. This includes avoiding the use of pronouns, imperatives and negatives.

Gaining helpful advice throughout the semester, I promptly incorporated feedback into future assignments. After completing the first peer review, I discovered the importance of peer reviews for summarizing the work and addressing all document elements. This led to a more detailed and thorough analysis for subsequent reviews. Apart from peer reviews, I worked towards improving my writing style with each assessment, aiming to reduce pronouns and imperatives.

Pursuing a career in software development, strengths that I have developed over the term include strong organization and time-management skills. Completing an intensive writing course, I am able to complete tasks in timely and detail-oriented manner. Apart from a strong work ethic, I developed professional writing skills that are helpful for composing clear and consise documentation while maintaining a positive tone. The above skills combined with my technical experience from previous internships will support a future career in computer science.
