{"id":314,"date":"2022-08-11T22:48:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T05:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/samanthateepletechnicalwriting\/?p=314"},"modified":"2022-08-11T22:48:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-12T05:48:00","slug":"self-assessment-reflection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/samanthateepletechnicalwriting\/self-assessment-reflection\/","title":{"rendered":"Self Assessment Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coming into this Technical Writing 301 course was honestly not something I looked forward to and will be happy to have achieved completion.<\/p>\n<p>Expectations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hard<\/li>\n<li>Lots of writing<\/li>\n<li>Won&#8217;t be useful<\/li>\n<li>No guidance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reality:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Easy guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Challenging but educational<\/li>\n<li>Many &#8220;real world&#8221; applications<\/li>\n<li>Lots of writing projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There were many assignments where I was thankful for the opportunity to correct flaws in my work, some small and some larger. Through the peer-review process we were able to gain valuable feedback from our classmates that guided us in individual improvement in a constructive method.<\/p>\n<p>I found when reviewing my peers work I would realize things within my own work that needed to be addressed. I enjoyed the learning through reviewing methodology.<\/p>\n<p>One of the strengths that I realized through completion of this technical writing course is I am great at taking and applying creative feedback.<\/p>\n<p>The learning obtained through this course is something that can guide me in my future educational initiatives by having an in-depth understanding of what goes into an application package for graduate school.<\/p>\n<p>Within the workplace I write more professional emails to my colleagues now.
