Inquiry

Inquiry Research Project

Before my practicum, I was quite nervous when it came to the topic of inclusion. A question kept popping up in my mind: How do I include all students in an inclusive classroom setting for all subjects? One specific subject that interested me was inclusive classrooms for students with Autism. I did an inquiry research project on the topic of inclusion for students with Autism and I also had the opportunity to work closely with a child with Autism during my practicum.

My inquiry research project:

Inclusive Classroom for Autism

I found so many resources that can be used in the regular classroom setting for the student and how relationships matter so much for them, especially positive working relationships. The students in the classroom play a big role in each other’s lives and I was very touched that the students I worked closely with were so responsible and inclusive of the student with Autism. They were a positive energy for the student and gave the student the opportunity to interact and socialise with the other students. I hope that in the future in my own classroom, I will have the ability to foster a positive relationship with all my students, connecting them together as a community.
