Work and Volunteer Highlights

Hi everyone:’) I’m so excited to publish my FIRST post!

The FIRST post is about my best work and best volunteer experiences. Because it’s a part of my life and it can be my turning point.

1. WORK

  • July 2008 – December 2011
  • Incheon English Village (Incheon, Korea)
  • Co-teacher

Before the first summer vacation was started, as an university student,  I thought I should do something new. So I applied to Incheon English Village(ICEV) as an intern. Luckily, I got a postion to work with them. It was first work that I organized the special English camp (7days camp). This program was provided to students who wanted to study here but couldn’t afford it. During that program, I also offered English classes to elementary school students with native teachers by using English. Whenever students didn’t understand what teacher said, I had to explain more details. It was very difficult to me because students gave up class easily, so I concerned how I motivated them very well. Through this experience, I developed responsibility and language skills.

ICEV is international workplace. It means I could meet Canadian, American, British, Austrailan, South Africa and etc. When I talked with them, I found there were many different cultures. That’s why I acquired the ability to think globally. The important thing through this experience is that I realized passion is more valuable than acknowledgement by excellent talent.

 2. EXTRACURRICULAR EXPERIENCE

  • May 2011
  • International Beauty Expo 2011 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
  • Exhibitor, Marketing Manager of “Hope girl”

I took GTEP (Global Trade Experts Incubating Program) from July 2010 to February 2012. This program is supervised by KITA (Korea International Trade Association) and Ministry of knowledge economics. It was specialized in trade expert education and training.  I participated 5 international exhibitions in this program and I was in charge of team manager and marketing manager during int’l beauty expo. I had to sell our products with my team members and sometimes we met buyers who wanted to contract with us. I had a business talk by using English and Chinese when I confronted both situations. As a result, we had sales meetings with more than 50 international buyers for 4 days of the exhibition and sold 240 products and exported more than 4,500 USD products in the exhibition. It was successful work! Actually, I had sold out all products during other exhibitions. Through that experience, I mastered how to project the exhibition and communicate with people. Also I acquired teamwork and problem solving ability skills doing team project. One thing that I realized is all experiences are my best asset.

  • May 2010
  • Volunteering club of Jinan University (Lian nan, China)
  • Volunteer

When I studied chinese in guangzhou (China), I visited Lian nan that racial minority’s enclave with schoolmates. We provided some stationery and helped children to study mandarin. They could speak only their own language rather than mandarin, so it was a little bit difficult to communicate with them. As time went by, they catched up with our class very well. I was really impressed with them. I couldn’t explain how I felt exactly. Well, I did volunteer for them only 2 days, but it seemed like me and them already knew each other. Sometimes I wonder how they lives well, how they improves their mandarin ability and I miss them very much.
