Good news!  The entrance slips are working!  I am having fewer and fewer students who are late.  Some have even told me they are changing their routines in the morning to not be late – awesome!  One strategy is working – but, I need to make these entrance slips mean something and I haven’t figured that out yet.  In fact, I really need to think about everything I give them and why I am giving it to them (or making them do it).  It’s easy just to give them work and keep them busy but it is a waste of time for everyone.  Another lesson I’ve learned is think about why you are giving the students work – what is the work? Is it meaningful? Appropriate and relevant.  This practicum is so rushed sometimes I feel like I don’t have time to think about anything except getting through the next day. I know I have assigned things that I later get back and I don’t even know why I gave it to them – I have to think about that more as I move forward.
