This centre is located just outside the community of Bamfield on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada.\u00a0 It is a world class, non-profit, research and education facility that boasts members from five different Western Canadian universities (UBC, UVic, SFU, UofC, UAlberta).\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-31 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sarahcarnegie\/files\/2017\/01\/pacrim_map-300x255.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sarahcarnegie\/files\/2017\/01\/pacrim_map-300x255.gif 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sarahcarnegie\/files\/2017\/01\/pacrim_map-624x530.gif 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I am very excited to not only learn more about west coast marine life and the communities that live there, but also about teaching in a field school setting.\u00a0 Informal education, in the form of non-local field schools, is something that I very much want to incorporate into my teaching practice.
