{"id":104,"date":"2016-02-22T15:42:12","date_gmt":"2016-02-22T22:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/saresources\/?page_id=104"},"modified":"2022-02-01T22:24:12","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T05:24:12","slug":"roles-responsibilities-educ-315","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/saresources\/roles-responsibilities-educ-315\/","title":{"rendered":"Roles &#038; Responsibilities EDUC 315 &#8211; Sec"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">The Practicum Triad<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>While the eventual success of a teacher candidate may not depend upon it, it is safe to say that the most important factor in a positive and productive practicum is a collegial relationship among all members of the Practicum Triad.<\/p>\n<p>The triad consists of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The school advisor(s)<\/li>\n<li>The faculty advisor<\/li>\n<li>The teacher candidate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of the members of this triad have inter-related but distinct roles. Specific roles for each member of the triad during the two-week practicum experience are as follows. (More detailed information can be found in the BEd Practicum Guidelines.)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>School advisor(s):<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Finalize a proper load of classes for your teacher candidate;<\/li>\n<li>Provide support, encouragement, and practice;<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular observations and give appropriate feedback;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in all required triad meetings; and<\/li>\n<li>Complete the\u00a0EDUC 315 School Orientation Practicum Form, due at the Teacher Education Office at the end of the two-week practicum (or in some cases after the conclusion of the one-day-a-week school visits).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Faculty advisor:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support and guidance to other triad members;<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular observations and appropriate feedback;<\/li>\n<li>Arrange for cross check observations if needed; and<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate the completion of the EDUC 315 School Orientation Practicum Form (above) with the school advisor(s).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Teacher candidate:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare adequately for all courses\/units taught;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in all triad meetings;<\/li>\n<li>Act as a liaison (if needed) between the school advisor(s) and the faculty advisor;<\/li>\n<li>Reflect appropriately on practice;<\/li>\n<li>Respond appropriately to all feedback received by advisors; and<\/li>\n<li>Fully understand what needs to be prepared before the beginning of the extended practicum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Practicum Triad While the eventual success of a teacher candidate may not depend upon it, it is safe to say that the most important factor in a positive and productive practicum is a collegial relationship among all members of the Practicum Triad.
