{"id":46,"date":"2020-10-03T13:17:52","date_gmt":"2020-10-03T20:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/saritaponce\/?p=46"},"modified":"2020-10-03T14:09:41","modified_gmt":"2020-10-03T21:09:41","slug":"week-4-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/saritaponce\/2020\/10\/03\/week-4-independence\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 4- Independence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we looked at how history is told.\u00a0 We talk about Simon Bolivar, Marti, Hugo Chavez, the Haitian revolution and who the elites began to worry.\u00a0 Finally \u00a0is mentioned in the readings so I took a moment to read about who she was.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Simon Bolivar was a masn looking yto stop the Spainards who were destroying his land.\u00a0 He was a Venezuelan man and solider in the Sounth American moement, looking for libsrstion from the Spanish rule.\u00a0 In his letter to the &#8216;gentalman of the island (Jamaca)&#8217;, he explain how the raign of Spain has neen detrimentsal to not only Venezuels, but also Chile, New GranadaGuetemala, Puero Rico, and Cuba.\u00a0 He lobies for the people of South America to fight or rebekl against the Spainards.\u00a0 Bolivar fighnts for South Americas Independnce by expining effects that the Spainards caused.\u00a0 He later linberates Venezuela in 1813.\u00a0 He was given the title of &#8220;The Liborator&#8221; as hee had liberated not only\u00a0 Veneuelsaa but also New Granada (1819)\/ Quito (1822) and Peru (1824).\u00a0 He vsalso later establishes Boliva in 1825.\u00a0 Not all the credit can go to Bolivar, we ,ust also recognize Manuelita Saenz.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-49 aligncenter\" style=\"margin-top: 0.857143rem; margin-bottom: 0.857143rem;\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/saritaponce\/files\/2020\/10\/Manuelita-Saenz-and-Bolivar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"218\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Manuelita Saenz snd Simon Bolivar<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I thought it important to talk about Manuelita and her role in Bolivars&#8217;
