Dashboard courses are ordered alphabetically by course name and your role in the course (nicknames and course codes do not apply to course ordering). Courses with instructor roles are listed first, followed by TA roles and student roles. The are a few ways in which you can customize the Dashboard.<br>You can choose which courses are displayed in the Dashboard by customizing your &#8220;favorite courses&#8221; list. To do so, click the&nbsp;<strong>Courses&nbsp;<\/strong>link in the Global Navigation [1], and go to&nbsp;<strong>All Courses&nbsp;<\/strong>[2].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/all_courses_list.png\" alt=\"\"><br>To favorite a course, click the star next to a course. Courses with filled stars show the course is a favorite.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/all_courses_favourite.png\" alt=\"\"><br><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>When you favorite at least one course, the Dashboard will only display favorited courses.<br><strong>Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;The &#8220;Favorite Courses&#8221; list is also what you will see when you click the&nbsp;<strong>Courses&nbsp;<\/strong>link in the Global Navigation. (When no courses are favorited, the courses list automatically displays up to 20 courses alphabetically in the drop-down menu. )<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/dashboard_color.png\" alt=\"\"><br>You can also move a course card to another location in the Dashboard. To do so, you can either manually&nbsp;<em>drag and drop<\/em>&nbsp;a course card to another location in the Dashboard or click the&nbsp;<strong>Options&nbsp;<\/strong>menu [1] and select the&nbsp;<strong>Move<\/strong>&nbsp;tab [2]. Depending on the placement of the existing card, you can move the card to the top of the Dashboard, ahead or behind a specific card, or to the bottom of the Dashboard. When you copy an item, any assets within that item (images, files, etc.) will be included in the copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To copy an item, navigate to the item you wish to copy and click the&nbsp;<strong>Options<\/strong>&nbsp;icon [1]. You can share entire modules as well as individual assignments, quizzes, pages, and discussions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To share an item, click on the 3 vertical dots beside the item you would like to send\/share. The \u201cundelete\u201d feature of Canvas is a \u201chack\u201d but it can be a lifesaver so it&#8217;s worth knowing about.\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>*WARNING*&nbsp;<\/strong>This function is not fully supported by Canvas. Therefore, it will not work 100% of the time. Moreover, it appears that only the last 25 items are available to restore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From your Canvas homepage, type&nbsp;<strong>\u201c\/undelete\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong>at the end of your URL. This will bring you to the \u201crestore deleted items\u201d page and you can opt to restore quizzes, assignments, and discussions you\u2019ve recently deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/Canvas-undelete.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1543\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-4324\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Export your course content as an offline HTML file<\/h2><div id=\"ac-4324\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4fc3f8e1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Did you ever wish you could create an offline version of your course? You may want to keep it for your records or perhaps share it with someone. It&#8217;s easy in Canvas! Course content export packages include all course files, pages, and embedded files added to a module. (Content items locked by modules or by date are not included in offline content and show that the content is not available.) <strong>Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;Offline content cannot be downloaded once a course is concluded.<br>To enable offline course content export, click the&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;link in Course Navigation [1] and click the Course Details tab [2]. Locate the Offline Course section and check the&nbsp;<strong>Allow course content to be downloaded and viewed offline<\/strong>&nbsp;box [3]. Click the&nbsp;<strong>Update Course Details&nbsp;<\/strong>button at the bottom.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/offline_enable1.png\" alt=\"\"><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/offline_enable2.png\" alt=\"\"><br>Go to your&nbsp;<strong>Modules&nbsp;<\/strong>page, and click the&nbsp;<strong>Export Course Content&nbsp;<\/strong>button. The course will download to your computer as a ZIP file.&nbsp;<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2023\/06\/offline_export.png\" alt=\"\"><br>Once the file has been downloaded, locate the ZIP file on your computer, double click the file to open it (MAC users) or right-click the file and select Extract All (PC users). When the file expands, open the course folder and&nbsp;<strong>open the&nbsp;<em>index.html&nbsp;<\/em>file<\/strong>. You can edit the link text in the\u00a0<strong>Text\u00a0<\/strong>field [1] or link URL in the\u00a0<strong>Link\u00a0<\/strong>field [2].<br>You can choose to display a file preview in a pop-up window or in-line preview when the link is clicked. The Notes column is not visible to students. The Notes column is included in the Gradebook export CSV file, and you can add notes via CSV import.<br>To enable the&nbsp;<strong>Notes&nbsp;<\/strong>column in your Gradebook, click the&nbsp;<strong>View&nbsp;<\/strong>menu [1] and then click the&nbsp;<strong>Notes<\/strong>&nbsp;link [2].
