Biological embedding

It’s common knowledge that biology affects experience, but how does experience affect biology? This engaging, interdisciplinary seminar will explore how experience gets “under the skin” to affect health and development over lifetimes and generations.

  • First, we will unpack biological embedding to understand its main components: epigenetic regulation, neurodevelopment, environment and experience
  • Then, we will apply this understanding to develop and evaluate ecobiodevelopmental models for various disorders and diseases (you get a say in which ones!)

Throughout the course, we will critically analyze and discuss research from various fields, including epigenetics, neuroscience, developmental biology + psychology, and public health.
