The above image shows what Vancouver would look like if all the ice sheets on earth melted. Sea level rise is slowly becoming a threat to Vancouver’s very existence.
In Vancouver, the sea is rising at an estimated rate of 1cm a year. This means that by 2100, Vancouver’s sea level will rise to 1 full meter, leaving much of the city under water. The City of Vancouver is designing a response to mitigate the impacts that a rising ocean will bring with it.
The city has indicated that the first step in their plans to address Sea Level Rise is an education campaign to build awareness amongst residents of Vancouver of the rising seas.
