As climate change causes sea levels to rise, it is crucial for coastal cities to prepare to mitigate the potential damage caused in the imminent future. The goal of the project is to develop a multi criteria evaluation on Metro Vancouver to determine alternative areas for city development in relation to sea level rise and population change. Moreover, we will create a hotspot analysis map to display hotspots with the greatest population change. According to the 2019 report by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), sea level rise may reach up to 1m by the end of the century. In addition to the factor of population change, it is also crucial to know which areas have the most increase in population. For this project we hope to answer the following questions:
1. Which areas have the greatest population increase?
2. Which areas are affected by sea level rise?
3. What are the alternative places for future city development with sea level rise as a factor?
