Types of Service Dogs
A service dog is a dog which has been trained and certified to aid a person with a specific disability. Depending on the source, these dogs may also be called assistance dogs. Under this umbrella are dogs for the blind, the deaf, the physically disabled (paraplegic to arthritic), people with autism, with seizures, and more are being added. I will use the word user instead of owner because most training facilities retain ownership of the dog through out its life which allows them to take the dog back if there are problems.
