{"id":159,"date":"2013-07-17T08:59:34","date_gmt":"2013-07-17T15:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/?p=159"},"modified":"2013-07-17T17:06:19","modified_gmt":"2013-07-18T00:06:19","slug":"module-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/2013\/07\/17\/module-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Module 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project Participants<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The main participants in our inquiry project are TOCs.\u00a0 Through our project we hope to connect TOCs to technology in classrooms.\u00a0 TOCs don\u2019t normally know what technologies are available until they walk through the door or have been in the class before.\u00a0 There is a wide spectrum of technology use in the district and in the school.\u00a0 Hopefully our inquiry project will give the TOC the opportunity and resources to bring ICT into their temporary classroom.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, we hope to connect TOCs with other TOCs.\u00a0 Being a TOC can be lonely and isolating experience.\u00a0 It\u2019s difficult to make any meaningful connections in a school or classroom when you\u2019re only in the school or classroom for a day.\u00a0 There are district TOC committees and they organize TOC events, but most TOCs don\u2019t participate (I, being one of them).\u00a0 \u00a0I, honestly, never really had the desire to go any meetings; either I was busy, wasn\u2019t interested or didn\u2019t find it relevant.\u00a0 By providing an ICT database, it gives a reason for TOCs to visit our site.\u00a0 We hope this can hook TOCs onto the other resources that we offer: a blog, ICT resource list, and ideas\/guidelines on how to incorporate ICT into their lessons.\u00a0 Through the blog, teachers are able to connect and share their experiences and thoughts.\u00a0 If we can allow other TOCs to submit their ideas and resources, this could be the initial steps to building a TOC learning group or community.<\/p>\n<p>Considering our participants\u2019 history and experience with ICT, we acknowledge that there will be a wide range of ICT skills and knowledge, as well as, teacher experience.\u00a0 But we have made some assumptions when creating our project.\u00a0 1) Since, TOCs have graduated some type of education\/teaching program, they will have some ideas on how to technology can facilitate teaching.\u00a0 2) Because most people use some type of ICT on a daily basis (ie phone, computer, laptop, tablet, etc.), we assumed that TOCs, being people of the general population, will have a basic understanding and knowledge of ICT and will be familiar with the key language and technological terms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Participants The main participants in our inquiry project are TOCs.\u00a0 Through our project we hope to connect TOCs to technology in classrooms.\u00a0 TOCs don\u2019t normally know what technologies are available until they walk through the door or have been &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/2013\/07\/17\/module-11\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":18415,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6291],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-159","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-assignment-3"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/159","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/18415"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=159"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/159\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":184,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/159\/revisions\/184"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=159"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=159"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/shisandy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=159"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
