I recently read that most businesses don’t use content calendars for their online activity. What pains me is I can’t figure out why. Is it because they haven’t heard about content calendars? Is it because they don’t know what they should be posting, and just post whatever they feel like, on whatever social media they feel like? Or is it because they don’t want to be tied down to the structure of having a content calendar? If these reasons are true, let me tell you why I find content calendars clever.
Structure AND Flexibility
I’m currently working on a content calendar for my client in E-Marketing, Sunberry Fitness, a women’s only fitness centre in Richmond, BC. I really like structure, and what this calendar does is gives me an overview of what, why, where, when and to whom to post, in accordance to what topics are trending in the fitness/dance community and what events or contests the fitness centre has coming up. But the beautiful thing is that it is flexible too! If something new happens, say a famous yoga blogger comes by the studio, extra things can be added to the calendar.
Purpose
This one is simple. With a content calendar, you can have a tab that specifies the purpose of each post, instead of randomly posting an article, sitting back and hoping it will go viral – because it most likely won’t.
Merging online and offline
Content calendars allow you to synchronise what’s going on in your company offline, such as fundraisers, new product releases, marketing campaigns, with what messages you are sending online. This sends a clear message of who you are as a brand, and your customers will respect you for it!

Hi everyone! I was trying to set up a cloud server for a new project but found the costs of most providers to be a bit too high for my budget. A friend pointed me to digital ocean promocode, and I was pleasantly surprised. I applied one of their promo codes and got a great discount on DigitalOcean’s hosting plans. It was a smooth process, and now I can run my project without worrying about hosting expenses. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in a similar situation!
