Unit two Reflection

LinkedIn process

This assignment was fertile because it made me aware of how beneficial a LinkedIn account is. In exploring the best practices of LinkedIn, I was able to understand some of their terms of use, restrictions and how to attain the best results for job search. Having a LinkedIn profile is valuable as social media has become a prominent job searching and recruiting method. Although LinkedIn is not new to me, I would typically rely on other avenues such as Indeed to explore job offers. This assignment has enabled me to use the site more effectively, and since many job recruiters utilize LinkedIn, it would be wise to create a professional account.

Moreover, it was worthwhile to read the best practices posted by my peers. This aided with the learning process as well. Finally, I learned LinkedIn is an excellent channel to broadcast oneself positively, make lifelong connections, and help others form networks as well. I was grateful for this task because it allowed me to learn the importance of using social media to build my professional profile. Currently, I am looking forward to the endeavours of making a professional social media network.

Brainstorming and preparation process

The process of brainstorming and preparing my report and outline was a learning curve. Upon reflection, I can see how I could use my experience learned in this assignment to apply to other workplace issues; or advise a peer on the appropriate steps. Furthermore, it was challenging to develop an issue that wouldn’t be viewed as a negative outlook on the practice. As I am still working through learning how to complete a formal report, I am grateful that there are stages that will allow me to receive feedback from peers and my instructor.

Peer review

Peer reviews are valuable to me as I can see my shortcomings while writing. I am thankful to Shahd Khudher for providing constructive feedback about my report proposal. Shahd gave me a lot of positive feedback, and these annotations have made me feel that my writing has improved a little since the start of this course, which is rewarding. My colleague advised that I should put the unabbreviated form of the words like CDHO & RCDSO so that an audience who does not know what these terms mean will understand what they stand for. I took for granted that the proposal was being sent to the person who would already be familiar with these terms, and in my updated proposal, I have made this correction.

Moreover, since there would be legal liabilities involved in inadequate infection prevention and control practices, it would be essential to use legal documents to show the reader the implications of poor practices. However, I’m not sure how this would come across to the reader. I wonder if it would come across as offensive or judgemental, which is not the intended purpose of the proposal. The proposal’s goal is to work collaboratively in a healthy manner to alter certain practices that would ultimately be better for the public and dental team. Concerning my colleague Shahd, her work did not surprise me because she is a solid writer. Shahd’s writing is thorough and concise, which I can emulate when writing.
