Expectations
As a registered dental hygienist, it is imperative that when writing charts or other documents, they are clear, accurate, and formal to avoid legal and safety issues. My expectations for the course include communicating in a culturally sensitive manner, writing more effectively and increasing critical thinking skills. Working with diverse backgrounds, I hope to learn what may be viewed as offensive and disrespectful in some cultures and avoid this writing style. For each module and classroom experience, I anticipate having thought-stimulating conversations to foster open and creative thinking. Also, to develop strong social relationships that will further create and strengthen lifelong communication skills.
My short-term goals are to use the resources that would be made available to me. My long-term goals are to become a confident, innovative writer and thinker who is sensitive to the reader and to expand on my original ideas on paper through creative outlets and inputs.
I await going through the different nuances in different types of writing; however, I aim to develop and strengthen my writing capabilities to sustain readership in my articles and correspondences.
I expect this course is catered to be rigorous, where I can be challenged to experience growth. I anticipate having ongoing conversations with my professor about my development or lack thereof and what to improve upon. I welcome and anticipate constructive criticism and honesty. I expect engaging conversations and am eager for the support that will give. I am excited to work collaboratively in teams on an open form to strengthen and develop social and writing skills. After the course is completed, I expect to apply the knowledge attained to my career and improve my self-editing and self-reflecting skills.
