Kellogs Special K made the smartest decision when they decided to change their campaign from “fitting into that perfect red dress” to “own it“. Kellogg’s perspective on women was about them thinking how good they looked and how many calories they wanted to lose. But thats where they were wrong. Women all across Canada are now aiming to feel good rather than look good.
Marketing can only be successful when it meets consumers demands. Just like how in Aniket Bang’s blog on Hershey’s, he talks about how Hershey is now using more natural ingredients because that is what consumers are looking for, is the same way Kellogg’s has aimed to satisfy their consumers wants. In my opinion, this is a very strategic way to market because you are giving consumers exactly what they need, and they wouldn’t have any reason not to buy your product.
It’s more than just advertising to make your product look good, because customers do care about what goes into manufacturing products. And that’s what companies need to look at when they market their product.
