Business ethics is for companies’ long-term development

CVS Caremark, a large chain drugstore  which chose not to sell any cigarettes or tobacco products from Feb, 2014, made a wise decision which shows its business ethics. Obviously, this company would benefit from this decision in the long run. In the same time, they may decrease the possibility that the public getting chronic diseases causing by smoke. Personally, I can’t agree more with this idea for its sustainability. Undeniably, CVS met a lot of problems at the very beginning. The first concern for them was the decreasing profits for the company. This may drive away customers to other competitors, weakening their competition in the market. Meanwhile, their prohibition of selling cigarettes might not change the current situation– the percentage of smoking people would not go down because the average people may find  somewhere else to buy cigarette.  However, CVS has its confidence, aimed at letting other emulate this business section. I believe that this is what makes it a successful company– insightful and longsighted!!

Anyway, companies are born for their own benefits. but companies which keep the business ethics would take some risks at first but becoming stronger and stronger in the long run as they know the rules for long-term surviving of business.
