Task 6: An Emoji Story

When creating my emoji summary, I relied primarily on ideas and words rather than syllables. Since I was describing a TV show I had recently rewatched, I focused on conveying the broader themes and overall storyline rather than specific plot points. Because I was already familiar with the series as a whole, it felt more natural to emphasize the larger narrative arc instead of narrowing in on a single episode.

I started with the title. I found it to be the easiest entry point and approached it with a more literal translation. Beginning with the title helped spark creative ideas and made me feel more comfortable as I moved on to describing the plot in emojis.

I didn’t choose the work specifically because it was easy to visualize. However, the show naturally lends itself to clear imagery, which made the task more manageable. Even though it spans multiple seasons, the story develops in a way that’s easy to follow, and the finale ties the plot threads together in a satisfying way that highlights each character’s growth.

  1. Hi Sara,
I am thrilled to have found your post because I just started rewatching this series tonight (completely randomly). If I am correct (it’s Schitt’s Creek right?!), I will definitely be doing my Linking Assignment reflecting on your post since this show was top of mind for me tonight. Thanks for sharing, and I’ll post a link when I’m done my reflection. 🙂
