Do we really need Social Entrepreneurs?
A social enterprise is an organization that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in human and environmental well-being, rather than maximizing profits for external shareholders. In order to start a healthy social enterprise there must be a powerful and positive tools when planning the business. After reading about many articles on Social enterprise and the Arc Initiatives I felt greatly appreciative towards the individuals who started an organization/business purely to not make profits, but help those in need. Many social entrepreneurs focus on issues such as education, clean water supply, food, health and housing.
Many of you may believe that some social entrepreneurs are not so necessary if we have the United Nations. I mean, aren’t the focuses of social entrepreneurs the same as the UN? The United Nation is divided into various parts that focus specifically in certain areas. For example UNDP is the United Nation Development Programme; like this there are numerous other branches of the UN. Although the UN is always has their presence when it comes to Aid to those in need, I believe that they are more focused more towards immediate aid, whereas social entrepreneurs are focused as a long term based. The Arc Initiatives help spread and assist the creative ideas that have been thought through by social entrepreneurs. Although the UN is always there, other social organizations are always there to fill in what they potentially missed.
