  • SLAIS Gamers has had a Facebook group for a while, but now we want to be a real LASSA group.
  • Constitution
    • Loosely based on the ALA group’s constitution, but has things like “sorcery” added.
    • The constitution version that was discussed at the meeting was posted on the Facebook page a day or two earlier.
    • Have changed “dungeon master” to “dungeon moderator” in the interest of gender neutrality.
    • Membership
      • Discussion about opening membership to non-SLAISers or non-UBCers. May decide to welcome people to attend/participate in meetings, but they will not be able to vote or be on the executive.
      • Decided to table until the group is established and then we can consider amending the constitution.
    • Selective glossary
      • Dungeon moderator: Will be responsible for ensuring that games have necessary supplies and that there are sufficient resources to learn them. Will also keep score.
      • Minions = Members
      • Guild = LASSA group (i.e., “rival guilds” = groups other than SLAIS Gamers)
    • Constitution ratification
      • Read through the constitution, made some amendments and ratified (vote was unanimous).
      • Matthew will post/circulate updated constitution?
    • Executive
      • Elected by acclamation
        • Co-thrones (co-chairs): Luke and Sadie
        • Scribe (secretary): Maria
        • Banker (treasurer): Robert
        • Internet overseer (webmaster): Matthew
        • Dungeon moderator: Erik
          • Jay will be a non-member helper… especially since he loves to read game rules.
        • Arch-wizard (faculty advisor): Will ask Aaron if he is interested
        • Other committees will be formed as needed.
      • Events
        • International Gaming Day is coming up on November 15th. We should do something…?
        • SFU has a large games library. Will look into organising a tour.
      • Fundraising ideas
        • Bakesale: Every group seems to do this.
        • Games tournament: Discussion around how to monetise this.
      • LASSA meeting
        • Next Thursday at noon, room 213 in the Sub. Luke will attend.
      • Regular meeting dates
        • Some discussion about whether we should meet in the afternoon or evening. Less time to play games in the afternoon (limited to about an hour), but more people around.
        • Nothing finalised.
