Three Big Ideas:
- Ethical Buying: For Ethical Buying, I would focus on what ethical buying is in respect to traditional designs being used in fashion. I would look at companies that have used traditional designs as a way to sell a trend without much, if any thought, to what it meant for them to use those designs.
- Comic Representation: I would look at comic books written and illustrated by First Nations creators and discuss the significance of a book or two. I would look at how the characters are represented, what the stories focus on (modern and historical issues, traditional stories, etc.). I would look at how the representation of characters is breaking down stereotypes and how issues that are still prevalent today are being discussed.
- The Sixties Reaping: For this option, I would focus on the Sixties Scoop of Canada and how it affected the families that were split up. I would want to look into this because my dad and his siblings were taken from their mother and split up. The question I would want to answer would be “how has being split up at a young age affected them (the children) as adults?”
