FNIS deals with topics ranging from recognised ‘Indian’ status to treaty rights to what it means to be Indigenous. While these topics are incredibly interesting in their own rights, I decided to take on something we didn’t talk about in class. At least partially. For my Big Idea project I decided to focus on comic books. We didn’t really talk about comics at all in the course, but we did talk about representation, stereotypes, and colonial expectation. As you will find, I found an abundance of evidence while researching Indigenous representation in comic books and I think I’ve managed to link it to what we learned in class.

Here it is, the link to my work. Please be kind:Indigenous Representation Within the Comic Universe and Why It Matters
