Beater\u2019s activity is the hunt (get food, clothing), but his actions of scaring game do not directly result in getting food and clothing<\/div>\n<div><strong>Activity:<\/strong>\u201cthe function of the individual in his interactions with the surroundings\u201d (Tolman, 1988)<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Aim:<\/strong> \u201cthe object of the action\u201d (goal) (Tolman, 1988)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appropriation:<\/strong> instead of \u00a0adapting to the world surrounding us we make it our own<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conditions:<\/strong> the object of an operation<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consciousness:<\/strong> \u201cthe sum total of mental processes which actively participates in man\u2019s understanding of the objective world and of his personal being.\u201d \u00a0\u201cThinking involves not a mere processing of information; it is an active, sensuous, purposeful transformation of reality in conformity with reality\u2019s own essence\u201d (Tolman, 1988).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instinct:<\/strong> behaviour based on evolution and adaptation to the environment. \u00a0Characteristic to animals. \u00a0Part of man, but \u201cdo not play a decisive role\u201d because humans are prompted by social rather than biological motives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interiorisation:<\/strong> \u201cgradual conversion of external actions into internal, mental ones\u201d (Tolman, 1988).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meaning:<\/strong> how an individual \u201cgeneralize[s] and reflect[s] human experience\u201d (Tolman, 1988)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Need:<\/strong> \u201cthe prerequisite for an activity\u201d (Tolman, 1988)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psyche:<\/strong> an interaction between a living thing with the environment to create sensations, thoughts, perceptions, etc<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sense:<\/strong> \u201ca relation between the subject and the world that is created by the subject\u2019s activity\u201d (Tolman, 1988)<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Situated Cognition Vocabulary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Affordance:<\/strong> How one lives in his\/her environment, or how the environment affects how one acts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boundary Trajectory:<\/strong> \u00a0the path that one is on when he\/she is a member of several similar communities of practice. It helps to bridge the relationships between them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Community of Practice:<\/strong> \u00a0a group that we belong to with mutual engagement, a joint enterprise and a shared repertoire that affects how we learn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inbound Trajectory:<\/strong> the path of a newcomer who is engaged in becoming a full participant in the community of practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Insider Trajectory:<\/strong> \u00a0the path of one who has been engaged in a community of practice for a period of time, but who is still fully engaged in learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legitimate Peripheral Participation:<\/strong> \u00a0the ways to describe how one belongs and participates in a community of practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outbound Trajectory:<\/strong> \u00a0the path that one is on when he\/she is leaving a community of practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peripheral Trajectory:<\/strong> a path that one can be on where he\/she never fully engages in the community of practice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><strong>Distributed Cognition Vocabulary:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Cognitive system: <\/strong>systems that incorporate psychological data, similar to the ways\u00a0 humans think and process information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Internal representation:<\/strong> representational formats, including propositions, mental images and mental models.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>External representation:<\/strong> artifacts that exist in the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Activity Theory Vocabulary: Actions: the processes of an individual, in which the object and motive do not coincide with each other Ex.
